Sources Policy
Short version: we source facts from the vendor first, and we label anything less certain than that.
Our Source Hierarchy
When researching a product, we prioritise information in this order:
- The official manufacturer or vendor.
- The vendor’s official pricing page.
- Official product documentation.
- Official technical specifications.
- Trusted primary datasets.
- Reputable secondary sources.
How We Label Certainty
Not every fact carries the same level of confidence. Internally, and where relevant on the page, we distinguish between information that is verified against a primary source, partially verified, unverified, outdated, or conflicting between sources. We do not publish unverified information as settled fact.
Specification vs. Interpretation
We keep what a vendor states (a spec, a price, a feature list) separate from what we conclude about it (whether that spec matters for a given use case, whether the price is good value). Marketing copy from a vendor or affiliate program is a source we read, not a conclusion we repeat as our own.
Pricing Specifically
Our primary market is the United Kingdom and our primary currency is GBP. We prefer official UK pricing where a vendor publishes it. Where we show a converted or estimated price, we label it as an estimate rather than presenting it as the vendor’s official figure, and we do not present historical or promotional pricing as the current standard price.
Keeping Sources Current
Vendor pricing, plans and specifications change without notice. We date our verification where practical, and we prioritise re-checking high-traffic and commercially important pages. See our Corrections Policy if you spot something that’s gone stale.
